Time
Egypt is 2 hours ahead of GMT.
Language
The language spoken in Egypt is Arabic. The crew on the boat speak good English.
Visa
These can be obtained in advance at the Egyptian Consulate in your country.
They can also be obtained on arrival for a cost of $15, USD and Euros also accepted, but Egyptian currency not accepted for visa purchase.The visa is like a matrices that you buy from the visa office, which you arrive at, just before the immigration booth, you can't miss it! The visa will cost you $15 and after buying it, you just stick in any empty page on your passport.
Taking diving equipment?
Scuba equipment must be within the weight allowance allowed by the charter airline usually 20kg. BCDs and bottles must be empty, properly closed and carried in the hold.
Climate
The diving in the Red Sea is year round with visibility averaging 30m. See the chart below for air and sea temperatures. Most divers are comfortable in a 3mm suit or shortie in summer (a full suit is recommended for night dives), and a 5mm 2 piece or semi-dry in winter. From May to September, the air temperature ranges between 38ºC and 41°C, and from October through to April between 23ºC and 29°C.
Electricity
The electrical current in Egypt and on our Red Sea liveaboards is 220volts and the plug sockets are the round 2 pin variety used in Central Europe. You should bring your own travel adapters if you have rechargeable lamps or other electrical equipment.
What should I bring for the diving safari?
